Who said the wedding cake isn't important?

Talk about making the cake the center of attention!  I love this picture from an I Do Wedding  in

Cincinnati.  I'm a firm believer that a wedding is the Bride, the DRESS, the Groom, the I DO's

and THE CAKE!  Growing up in a small town, weddings were a Saturday morning event in our church:

hearing the uuh's and aah's from the guests as the bride and her gown billowed down the aisle, listening

for the I DO's and then downstairs for cake and punch. Wedding Cakes have come along way since

then and are still a major icon in the wedding.  I love how this picture captures its well deserved place.

Veil or misplaced crinoline?

I'm always looking at the high-end gowns when it comes time to buying

for the store.  Treading through all the runway shows on-line, St Pucchi's

gown brought my mouse to a halt.  I love the dress but I think the model got the underslip

caught on her head and decided to call it the blusher veil.  It is unique but will we see it

walking down an aisle?

Love shoes but my knees no longer love heels.

So I just shop on Sundays for shoes and dream a little.

Today I came across a great pair of wedding shoes.

My Dueling Piano Guy

Just recieved Andrews updates by email today.  If you haven't seen him in person, check out where he's preforming.  He and his partner were the entertainment at one of my weddings last August and they were amazing.  3 1/2 hours of non-stop music.  My bride and groom loved them.

This picture was taken a few years ago on Cocoa Beach in Florida. The reflection in my sunglasses is of the same guy I’ve had in my sights since I was 15 and if I may say so the view has only become clearer and more beautiful as the years have flown by.

Marriage can only endure when the couple has the same goals and focus their sights on the same views.

I only have eyes for you and I’m excited to share the views throughout our retirement years.

The Bridal Expo at the Asyana in Downers Grove met my expectations this past weekend.

Carol does such a good job with emceeing the show.  The fashions are presented in such an updated format and the Bridal Mansion of Lisle is honored to have been chosen as one of their preferred Bridal Salons. My daughter and I personally spoke with over 175 new brides planning for 2010, 2011 and 2012.  I had a few mothers tell me they bought their gowns from from me in the late 80'.  Yes, I was there then. The Bridal Mansion of Lisle has been "dressing Chicagoland Brides since 1974." In fact this past weekend one of our brides was the daughter-in-law of our former seamstress who work at the Mansion in the early 80's but moved to Minnesota.  Who would have thought her son would find his way back to the area and his bride would find her dream dress at the Bridal Mansion of Lisle.  The mother's of our brides are makingour salon a wedding tradition.  Here's a photo of our booth at the Expo this past weekend.

Bridesmaid's dress stolen hours before wedding

(AP) – 2 days ago

PIKE CREEK, Del. — Delaware state police said someone broke into a car and stole a bridesmaid's dress just hours before a wedding on Friday at a shopping center in Pike Creek. Police said the bride and one of her bridesmaids were in a salon getting ready for the wedding.

When they got back to their car, they found that someone had stolen the pink dress the bridesmaid had planned to wear at the ceremony. A bag of accessories was also stolen.

The vehicle was not damaged. Police believe the thieves overrode the car's self-locking mechanism.

Police hoped to recover the dress in time for the ceremony.

Years ago 5 or 6 bridesmaids dresses were stolen out of a car while the bridesmaids stop downtown Naperville to do some grocery shopping at what was at that time called CeBee's Grocery store.  The call went out to all the local bridal stores for sample peach bridesmaids dresses.  If I'm not mistaken, the bridal stores were able to get the task done.
